MID NORTH COAST REGIONAL CHAMPION APPOINTED TO THE MINISTER FOR REGIONAL AUSTRALIA’S NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Minister for Regional Australia Simon Crean has announced the appointment of a Ministerial Advisory Council on Regional Australia and amongst the list of 11 eminent appointees is the Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast (RDA MNC) Acting Chair and Director North Coast TAFE Elizabeth McGregor.
 
Minister Crean said “Strengthening the role of the nation's 55 Regional Development Australia Committees and driving a new place-based approach that will help deliver local solutions to local issues”.
 
Mr Crean said new Council would provide independent advice on emerging regional priorities and how best to grow regional economies.”
 
He added that "Each member of the Council has been chosen because of their longstanding commitment to regional Australia. Together, they have a shared interest in the wellbeing of regional communities and the part Australia's regions play in the growth of the nation."
 
Mr Crean said the new Advisory Council would be chaired by Bill Kelty and comprise; Professor Ian Chubb AC; Lindsay Fox AC; Professor Sandra Harding; Collene Longmore; Rob Kerin AM; Elizabeth McGregor; Mal Peters; the Right Honourable Ian Sinclair AC; Professor Jonathan West; and Christian Zahra.
 
Peter Tregilgas Executive Officer for RDA Mid North Coast welcomed the announcement and said “the appointment of Elizabeth McGregor is a testament to the calibre of leadership present on the RDA MNC Board”.
 
“Elizabeth McGregor has proved her capacity as a champion for regional Australia and it is wonderful that her voice on issues including education and insight on broader issues will be heard amongst such a distinguished group appointed to the council”.
 
The appointment is a wonderful complement for Elizabeth’s professional standing and we are proud that such a high level government advisory selection has been drawn from the Mid North Coast.
