Broadband Today is an initiative led by the Sunshine Coast Council as part its Digital Economy Plan.
 
Broadband Today is where you can find how to access and use Broadband in your business, community or residence…today. This site includes material on the National Broadband Network (NBN) and the Digital (broadband) economy in a format that suits your business or your community. The term broadband generally means a high-speed, ‘always on’, communications link that carries information between one location and another.
 
The internet is a collection of networks and computers all joined together using the same basic communications technology. A broadband service is simply a fast, always-on way of linking your premises to the internet and other services. Think of the internet as a city. Broadband is the highway leading there.
 
This site provides an information resource that allows you to increase access to the new Digital Assets of the NBN and through mobile broadband, become aware and skilled in the use of applications and broadband and translate this into Digital Success.
 
There are 60+ local governments and 30 affiliate organizations across 5 states and growing. These councils are proactively identifying ways to ensure that their communities benefit from both the roll out of the NBN infrastructure, but equally the opportunity for their businesses and residents to access new markets and compete internationally in a way not previously possible.
